Member Print Display Opportunities

Throughout the year members are invited to display their photographic prints in a variety of events and exhibits. Each event has specific print display requirements as outlined below.

Featured Artist Showcase

A small wall showcase featuring 5 - 15 prints of a single artist on display for two months during the winter season.

Guidelines:

  • The theme/category is of the artist’s choosing and prints can be of a variety of sizes and formats.
  • An open house reception is held as formal recognition of the exhibit on the third Friday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM
  • Additional guidelines and timelines are required of the Featured Artist and will be forwarded upon reservation of a showcase month.
  • To become a Featured Artist, send queries and desired month(s) to the Showcase Coordinator: Sue Petry

Photographers' Showcase

This venue is the large wall exhibit area that features multiple member bi-monthly displays.

Guidelines:

  • Any member may submit up to three ready-to-hang prints for any/each themed event.  The following standardization of print presentation is intended to further the professionalism and eye appeal of our member showcases, individually and collectively.
    • All framed and matted prints: submit in ready-to-hang black frames not to exceed 16" x 20" and matted with white or off-white mats.
    • Black-framed unmatted prints are acceptable with the natural color of the photo paper serving as the mat, not to exceed 16" x 20".
    • Unframed canvas and board-mounted prints are acceptable, not to exceed 16" x 20".
    • Straight thin-foam backed prints (without a frame), not to exceed 16" x 20" are acceptable but are discouraged as they are difficult to hang straight.
  • See the Showcase Schedule below for 2024 - 2025 themes.
  • New print submission and print pick-up is Monday & Wednesday preceding the new display hanging, the third Friday of the month.
  • Prints not picked up will be stored in locked cabinet #9 or in the digital darkroom if outsized.

Window Gallery

A display of member ready-to-hang prints on any subject.

Guidelines:

  • Prints for display are attached to 16” X 20” black or white backing boards and encased in plastic sleeves for viewing.
  • This is an excellent opportunity and venue for members to display their competition prints which are properly formatted for this display.
  • Change-out occurs approximately every six weeks with print submission during the week prior to the change-out.
  • Watch the club newsletter e-Blast for updated information as submission dates approach.

September 20, 2024 - RED: A bold statement - the color of passion, danger, adventure, and violence; the first color that humans mastered. Capture or create images that feature a little or a lot of red in all its startling beauty and varied symbolism.

November 15, 2024 - STILL LIFE: Explore form, lighting, and storytelling in thoughtful compositions of subject matter. Consider arrangements found serendipitously in place or those deliberately created by you in the traditional manner.

January 17, 2025 - YESTERYEAR: Photographic images that capture a feeling of nostalgia for times gone by. Consider both restored and not so restored places and sites as well as more abstract images that capture the patina of time.

March 21, 2024 - ICM – INTENTIONAL CAMERA MOVEMENT: Dreamlike impressionistic in-camera movement manipulated images of any subject matter that engage the imagination of the photographer in creating them and the viewer in seeing them. The subject of ICM images is about color, texture, shape, pattern, and mood, not the object itself. You decide how much to reveal, what to remain a mystery, open to contemplation and personal interpretation.
