A 2-mile stroll through downtown Phoenix to leisurely encounter and photograph the many layers of a both historic and contemporary city that includes public art hidden in plain sight, intimate green spaces, soaring glass architecture, historical buildings, and landmarks from its pioneering past, and so much more.  While there will be ample opportunity for photography, this is a tour-like leader-guided group event for up to 16 participants.

Our downtown tour will begin with a Metro Light Rail trip from the Burton Barr Library rail station to the center of the city where we will proceed as a group.

We will stop for lunch at the halfway point at an urban restaurant.

Personal considerations for this event:

• Consider your physical ability to walk 2 miles in an urban setting under the weather conditions predicted for that day.
• Layered clothing, sun protection gear, good walking shoes, light travel gear such as fanny packs, plenty of water are a must.
• Jay walking is now a fineable offense.
• The light rail ticket cost is $2.00 in card or cash and purchased onsite. $1.00 bills recommended if using cash.
• Restaurants may not offer individual tabs. Consider tables for four for ease of managing bills.
• The exploratory city tour nature of this event requires the group to remain intact, wandering off is not permissible.
• Allow ample time if you need to cancel so that someone on standby might have an opportunity to participate.
• Camera equipment and gear to capture reflections, abstracts, street scenes, historical landmarks, architecture suggested.
• Ensure fully charged batteries, there’s a lot to see and photograph.
• Restrooms in the Burton Barr Library 1st and 5^th floors and restaurant.

This shoot is contingent on ample cars to accommodate up to 16 participants.

Cost for fuel is $6.00 per passenger. 

8:00 AM meetup is in the parking lot off Remington and Canyon Drive near the pro shop and Angela’s Restaurant. We will depart from Grand at 8:15 AM to meet up at the Burton Barr Library parking lot to catch the Metro light Rail to van Buren and 1^st Ave. where the tour officially begins.

This tour-like experience is intended to introduce you to the many layers of this beautiful city you might not have seen before, encouraging further photographic exploration.
